Introduction

FWB2ATA35D is a FireWire800 (IEEE 1394b) to ATA Dual 3.5" bay external enclosure. FWB2ATA35D is ideally suited for tailgate interface applications for two ATA HDDs. It allows IDE drives (Master and Slave) to be connected to a FireWire (IEEE 1394) serial bus in a plug-and-play fashion.

FWB2ATA35D provides the perfect solution for data backup and transferring of data between computers using IDE (ATA/ATAPI) devices.

1). FireWire800 (IEEE 1394b) to ATA Bridge Board:

  • DC Power Input Connector: Walkman-type 2.0 mm DC Jack
  • DC Power Output Connector: mini 4-pin Floppy Disk Drive like power connector
  • FireWire ports: Two Biligual-9pin and One FireWire-6pin
  • 1394 Bus Transfer Rate: 100/200/400/800 Mbps
  • IDE Access and power indicator LEDs
  • IDE Interface: Male IDC 2X20 Connector
  • RAID 0 (Stripping) is supported using the same firmware.
  • Complies with T13's ATA/ATAPI-7 Draft Specification:
    • PIO Mode 0 ~ 4
    • DMA Mode 0 ~ 2
    • Ultra DMA Mode 0 ~ 6
  • Supports 48-bit LBA for large hard drives (>128GB).

2). Aluminum made housing (Dual 3.5" Bays Enclosure)

  • Mobile rack like design
    • The housing is designed to provide sliding guide in the inner side
    • The inner metal mounting bracket provide the screw hole for two 3.5" ATA HDDs.
    • Design to install the ATA HDDs outside the housing
  • Provide Foot Stand to hold FWB2ATA35D stand still
  • Provide Power indicator LED (Red color) on the front panel
  • Provide ATA Access indicator LED (Blue color) on the front panel
  • Power Switch on the rear panel.
Hardware Requirements
  • Desktop PC: with either a built-in FireWire (1394) controller or a FireWire (1394) to PCI Host Adapter equipped with a external FireWire (1394) port.
  • Laptop PC: with either a built-in FireWire (1394) controller or a FireWire (1394) to CardBus PC Card equipped with a external FireWire (1394) port.
