Introduction

DIP8X-PCIE16XB21 is PCIe x16 Edge Finger to two MCIO Connectors Add-in Card. It required no additional software or drivers to operate so user can set up for PCIe internal expansion quickly and easily.

The Fixed-Side Connectors (two MCIO 8x) are defined to support multiples of x8 link width. The cabled channel was developed using 85Ω as a target for both PCB’s and cables.

It’s a cost-effective solution for bifurcation application. PCIe bifurcation means splitting the PCI Express bus into smaller multi-slots . For example, one x16 PCIe Port can be bifurcated into two x8 PCIe Ports, each of which can be further bifurcated into two x4 PCIe Ports, and so on. This can be achieved from BIOS level if you want to split an existing lane.

The PCIe Bifurcation mode allows users to take advantage of a single PCIe x16 slot, through the use of DIP8X-PCIE16XB21, and transform their PCIe slot into the following modes:

Two PCIe Slots (x8, x8)
Three PCIe Slots (x8, x4, x4 or x4, x4, x8)
Four PCIe Slots (x4, x4, x4, x4)

Please be noted that your mainboard needs to have PCIe bifurcation mode support.
