Introduction

QIP4X-PCIE16XB03 is Internal PCIe (four SFF-8654 4x 38pin) to PCI Express x16 Bifurcation Riser Card.

PCI Express bifurcation means splitting the PCI Express bus into smaller multi-slots . For example, one x16 PCI-Express Port can be bifurcated into two x8 PCI-Express Ports, each of which can be further bifurcated into two x4 PCI-Express Ports, and so on. This can be achieved from BIOS level if you want to split an existing lane.

The PCI-Express Bifurcation mode allows users to take advantage of a single PCI-Express x16 slot, through the use of QIP4X-PCIE16XB03, and transform their PCI-Express slot into the following modes:

  • Two PCIe Slots (x8, x8)
  • Three PCIe Slots (x8, x4, x4 or x4, x4, x8)
  • Four PCIe Slots (x4, x4, x4, x4)

Please be noted that your mainboard needs to have PCIe bifurcation mode support.
